Christ Church ready to celebrate 125 years

The parish of Christ Church, Fort Macleod, will celebrate the 125th anniversary of serving Fort Macleod and district on Sunday, May 15. A commemorative service will be held at 2:30 p.m. May 15 with Bishop Derek Hoskin presiding. This will be followed by a banquet at 4:30 p.m. in the Trinity United Church Hall. The first service in Christ Church was the Easter service in 1885. However, on June 2, 1886 the church burned to the ground after an explosion, thought to have been caused by whisky traders who had cached some of their wares under the front porch. More…

Pilar Gateman took her place Sunday in the history of Christ Church Anglican in Fort Macleod. Rev.
